Hi Prickly,

So Gibbon was the apprentice! I thought it would be the otherway round!!

What was his apprentice trade?

Thanks very much,

Gwyn in Kent Report 19 Jul 2013 10:46

There is also a 1741 record of this name.

The top of the column for first person's name is headed.... Masters names place of abode and trade, so one would assume that the apprentice would be an apprentice in that trade..?

The 1741 record reads
Henry Knott of Isle of Thanett Kent...(apps. name and father) Gibbon son of Gibbon Rammell... .........( no occupation shown in record)

EDIT
Forgot to add Henry Knott was a Carpenter

If he was apprentice to a Tallow Chandler he would have been a trainee candle maker.

Hi

Thanks everyone.

Yes there are a few Gibbon Rammells from the same family! The name carried on until the 1930's then died out completely.

Gillian,

I don't know for certain but I guess that your opening posts may have been referred for review by the idiot who will not be told that GR has no problem with the name of their competitor, Ancestry, being mentioned in either the title or the body of a post. on GR message boards.

The only objection that GR ever has is if the mention shows GR in a negative light when compared to their competitor which is obviously not what your posts did.
