I don't think anyone can do any more on this until you buy the marriage cert..............

Come back with its FULL details once you have received it from the GRO

Well here is the birth of Dundas. Thank goodness for a very unusual name.

1 1926 JAMIESON DUNDAS WOOD M HOLYTOWN /LANARK 625/02 0403

and his death.

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2007 about Dundas Wood Jamieson
Name: Dundas Wood Jamieson
Birth Date: 29 Aug 1926
Date of Registration: Apr 2007
Age at Death: 81
Registration District: Birkenhead
Inferred County: Cheshire
Volume: -1
Page: -1
Register Number: 1C001
District and Subdistrict: 037/1C
Entry number: 022

The birth certificate can be ordered from scotlandspeople for £12. It will give you the name of his parents.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 Jul 2013 21:21

If William was also born in Holytown, this will be his birth:

1920 JAMIESON WILLIAM M HOLYTOWN /LANARK 625/02 0698

That's the only William Jamieson born (or at least registered) in Holytown 1920-35.

ScotlandsPeople doesn't let us see an image for such a relatively recent birth record. You will have to order a copy, Tiny.
Here's the link to the General Register Office for Scotland:
http://gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/bdm.html

[EDIT: But ordering through ScotlandsPeople, as suggested by Alviegal above, is cheaper.]

So this would be John and his family.

I really think you need Dundas' birth certificate if you are sure he is William's full brother.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 Jul 2013 21:32

Actually, the 1920 Holytown birth doesn't fit with the age at death in 1971, so maybe that's not him? Perhaps he wasn't born in Holytown district after all.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 Jul 2013 21:44

Just for info:
This is the only William Wood Jamieson born in the whole of Scotland from 1855 onwards - but far too early to fit with the death age, and also too early if John & Margaret are "your" WWJ's parents. Not impossible, but they would only have been 14:

1906 JAMIESON WILLIAM WOOD M PARTICK GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 646/03 1431

alviegal

alviegal Report 20 Jul 2013 21:48

And this is down as being Margaret's family.

John & Margaret's marriage ?:

1910 JAMIESON JOHN WOODS MARGARET LARKHALL /LANARK 638/01 0084

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 Jul 2013 21:53

There's this birth in Larkhall, in a year to fit with the 1971 death :

1915 JAMIESON WILLIAM M LARKHALL /LANARK 638/01 0200

alviegal

alviegal Report 20 Jul 2013 21:58

If that is the correct marriage for John and Margaret, then the 1911 census I posted for Margaret is wrong.

You really need to buy some certificates to be absolutely certain we are on the right track.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 Jul 2013 22:02

Or else the tree on Ancestry has the wrong parents.

Yes, Tiny, you need certificates.
