What information do you see on the parish records for a marriage in 1783. Does it show the brides parents? (On Genes or at the record office).

I have a typed entry which shows the marriage of Thomas Moores b 1758 to Mary Ellison b 1762 on 26th April, 1783 by license. It states Mary was a widow at the time. She gave birth to a daughter Sarah in July of the same year. All these people where born and married in Frodsham, Cheshire. I am trying to ascertain if this 'widow marker' was an error or fact.

No they are only parish records and didnt show at that time any parent/fathers names.

Sometimes .if you are lucky .one of the witnesses may be family

As they married by Licence there may be more detail in that, assuming it has survived.

This explains more about Cheshire Licences....

I do not know if they are available online.

Thank you all very much for your comments and information, seems like it could be sometime before I find Mary's first marriage and maiden name.
