Hi, I am new to this website and trying to find my way about ! I am trying to find any info on Cecil George Wainwright born Leicester 1901, who is the brother of my late mother Gladys bertha wainwright born in Manchester 07/08/1906 . their mother Florence wainwright , later known as Florence Harrop was born in leceister around 1883-1888. Her death was December 1967 . I remember as a child Florence (my grandmother ) lived and worked in Blackpool.

Thank you so much for all the info . I was never told much about my mothers past when I was young ,the info you have kindly found have rung bells and brought names to mind . she did live with her grandfather and aunties in Stretford . I have no living relatives to find out any info and as I am not getting any younger myself I thought I would look into it . Thank you once again , Daffy ------- Sue .

Hi Sue - Glad that you are back because it seems that we have two Florence's, both marrying a Wainwright and probably both producing a Gladys at around the same time in the same area.

We need to sort out which one is your's.

Can you tell us please what actual 'facts' you knew before you started on this search please?

The one 'fact' is Florence's death................and the info I posted relates to the woman who died in 1967.......and her marriages etc.

............the references to the Leicestershire family came about as a result of info posted on the thread added by the person who was looking on Sue's behalf, and whose message was much less clear than Sue's.

Sue was obviously given that info by the other person...............hence the wording of the OP on here


The Florence in Leics had a second forename....Sue's grandmother did not

SO, Sue's grandmother did not have a brother called Cecil George then ??

Most of the data in the OP on here is based on a false premise.............

The other person passed the info from her thread to Sue...........................and Sue repeated it.

Had Cecil been in any way relevant, it would have been as Sue's uncle......................but her mother's brothers are shown with their father in 1911 in Staffordshire

Her grandmother has not so far been traced in 1911, but her mother now has, and finding her was the original reason for this post (and the other one)
