Not sure what you're after

Do you wish to know about people.............or just the shop?

If the latter, you'll need to contact the Chamber of Trade

What was the address of the shop?

Reggie

Reggie Report 30 Jul 2013 13:29

The 1911 census does not show anyone named Fink living in Kingston who professes to be a greengrocer

Stephanie

Stephanie Report 30 Jul 2013 13:30

Stephanie

Stephanie Report 30 Jul 2013 16:42

So this is what i know so far it was run george fink who was from new malden and lived in surbiton and then it passed down to his son ernest fink. george was born george fink but was also shown on docments as albert george fink he died in 1928 on the 5th of november. Birth year for him was 1869 and ernest was born 1893.

so the greengrocers was around the kingston upon thames area. surbiton or new malden

thanks

Stephanie, you said your George died died 1928 so I'm a bit puzzled by this:

He lived 13 Alpha Road, which is the same address as on the 1911 census.

Surrey, England, Burials, 1813-1987

Name: George Fink
Birth Year: abt 1867
Burial Age: 45
Burial Date: 14 Oct 1912
Archive Provided Parish: Kingston Upon Thames, All Saints
Parish as it Appears: Kingston Upon Thames
Reference Number: P33/1/42

ADDED: Death index for the above

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page
Deaths Dec 1912
Fink George 45 Kingston 2a 484

MarieCeleste Report 30 Jul 2013 19:21

This is the probate for the 1928 death:

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Name: Albert George Fink
Probate Date: 29 Nov 1928
Death Date: 5 Nov 1928
Death Place: Surrey, England
Registry: London, England

Of 11 James Street, Surbiton. Died in Kingston General Hospital.. Administration, with will, to Ernest Edward Fink, dealer. Effects £108 12s

ADDED: Death record for the above

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page

Fink Albert G 27 Kingston 2a 552

This wasn't the death of Ernest's father - it was his brother. (Father already died in 1912)

MarieCeleste Report 30 Jul 2013 19:32

They seem to be an unfortunate family for the men dying young:

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2007

Name: Ernest E Fink
Birth Date: abt 1892
Date of Registration: Sep 1933
Age at Death: 41
Registration District: Kingston
Inferred County: Surrey
Volume: 2a
Page: 476

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 30 Jul 2013 20:01

Looking at the enumerator's list for the 1911 census the address of 13 Alpha Road was listed as a shop. George Fink had also put on the form that he worked at home. It seems likely, therefore, that the family lived over the shop.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 30 Jul 2013 20:29

The witnesses at Ernest's marriage seem to be his brother with his wife. William's surname got mangled on the transcription! It's Fink on the image.

Surrey, England, Marriages, 1754-1937

Name: William Richard Frick - greengrocer of Christchurch, Surbiton
