The story i have been told is my ggg grandfather was known as Mackintosh of Moy, his youngest daughter Rachel fell in the loch and Alexander Forsyth saved her and asked for her hand in marriage as his reward.
Can anyone help me to discover if Mackintosh of Moy had a first name?
I believe there is a house south of inverness called moy house.
thankyou

You could try Scotlandspeople to look for the marriage certificate...unfortunately it is pay as you go. The certificate will give you the fathers name.

The marriage is too early for a certificate. Civil registration was only introduced into Scotland in 1855. Their father's may be mentioned on the parish record but it is not always the case.

Hi Wow you lot are quick and clever :)
i think vera and tutty fruity have discovered much of what i have been trying to source.
my half sister did much of the scottish ancestory research but she has since died.
What i know (i hope)
Alexander forsyth was a meal miller who rescued rachel forsyth from the loch, they had a son called robert born 1842 died 1906. he worked for george watson (also a meal miller) his wife was janet esson. they had a daughter called elizabeth born1847, robert (he had his insides ripped about by the machinery) and elizabeth married1865 (shotgun wedding we believe) they had 14 children. margaret was my grandmother born 1882 and married william mackay (born 1887 reputed father hugh mackay mother isabella harper b1869 domestic servant). william moved to canada and remarried (lil) after margaret died in 1918, he had a son billy and he in turn had a son and daughter (mickey and linda) but we have never met and we are not in touch.
i have googled mackintosh of moy in the past but wasn't sure if it was relevant, i did think of writing and seeing if the story tallied.
many thanks for all your efforts it is really appreciated
kind regards yvonne
