He always married in the register office, as a gen/lab.
Army records age differs about 2yrs (older ) (43yrs) ???
It would not suprise me if he was in the first WW.
They only had 2 boy's, George and Victor, not 3.
She did have 4 children but those 2 were not by George.
Yes I have Victors b/cert reads same as my George's but
not the 72 Tooting Grove.
Yes I agree, they didnt move far, so he must have been from around there,
I think, the church would have been St Andrews ???
Im sure I read it some were.

Morning Catherine , what church did he marry in -- 1st record you have -- and the addresses on it -- and was your husband baptised in the same one ? what was his occupation then ?

how much did his age differ again on his army records -- in the first WW they had to provide marriage and birth proof -- was his age nearer to what you think it should be??

not everyone reg for voting esp.if they moved about alot..

he did seem to like living around the Tooting area -- do you have the birth certs of all the 3 children ?? of George and Mary

Yes we have his war record, but it doesent help.
As he was married to Mary, and she was his next of kin,so that didnt help with his parents, when he volunteer'd.
The other thing on these records, was Mary Agnes, he told them she was Mary Alice ???
and his age had changed again.
Now reading my note book from a couple of years ago, 72 Tooting grove, turned
out to be, a man and his wife and his brother, who made sweets, I found that out
from The London Metrapolitan Archives when I went to London.
Unfortunatly I cant go again ( I am disabled ) it would be to much for me now.
This was from my husbands b/cert, there was the address they were living at
Grenfell road, then it says Fathers occupation Gen Lab of 72 tooting Grove, but
that does not seem right as he was not that type of lab, he was more a manuel
lab if you understand me, and the family that made the sweets didnt employ anyone
so why was this address on there ??? he didnt live there.
I do hope I havent confused you.

hello Catherine -- home again then , did you know that if you have any details of George's war service you can get his army records for 2 nd WW its easier if a close relative -- cost about £30 -- was he called up or did he volunteer ?? -- would have thought he was a bit old -- 40 ish start of the war ??

did you apply for any birth certs or thought better of it

1937
35 Moffat Road Tooting

1938
72 Tooting Grove Tooting

1938
31b Grenfell Road Tooting Junction

1943
14 Moffat Road Sw 17

Moffat Road 1943, this was the last address I have, but Mary was there on her
own, George was in Italy with the Army.
It seams as they came full circle from 1937 ???

I have more than 100 b/certs for his father all wrong.
I know they lived in Wandsworth and Tootting after my husband was born.

Catherine Report 26 Aug 2013 16:42

Mavis
that was good, it could have been George Henry.
On George and Mary's mar/cert the witnesses are R.C. West and his wife M.E.West.
They were also George Hugh's god parents, and everything they sighnd
was just R.C and M.E West
