So the birth certificate ordered - probably not her's (and how will I know if it is)?

But perhaps that's for another thread..........(or actually the original thread).

If anyone can find the family in 1871 ..........

It may simply be that they were overlooked...................it happened.

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 27 Aug 2013 19:18

Yes Reggie...but I can't find them - any of them :-(

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 27 Aug 2013 19:17

I haven't Reggie...not really sure that the one I have is "her"....

My husband's mother's father was John James Mead. He was widowed in 1925 and married Winifred Florence Stoddart on 06 September 1930.

I know her my mother-in-law's grandmother was Martha Stoddart and 1911 census shows her as a boarder

Name: Winifred Florence Ellis
Age in 1911: 8
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1903
Relation to Head: Boarder
Gender: Female
Birth Place: Barry, Glamorgan, Wales
Civil Parish: Caerleon
County/Island: Monmouthshire
Country: Wales
Street Address: 8 Usk Side Caerleon Mon
Occupation: School
Registration District: Newport
Registration District Number: 587
Sub-registration District: Caerleon
ED, institution, or vessel: 02
Household Schedule Number: 9
Piece: 31947
Household Members:
Name Age
Martha Stoddart 45
William Sargeant 40
Winifred Florence Ellis 8
Hilda Marjorie Sargeant 2

The only birth I can find that vaguely matches is

Name: Winifred Ellis
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1902
Registration District: Merthyr Tydfil
Inferred County: Glamorgan
Volume: 11a
Page: 832

And it is tenuous......but hey ho - it's pay day tomorrow!!!! Perhaps I should speculate :-)

Not having seen the other thread about this person, I don't know whether or not you have obtained her birth cert.............

Just looked at the list of missing records for 1871................none reportedly missing for Gloucestershire

No Dea...spent days looking (as you do) and I am not really expecting anyone to find them....but that in itself is comforting (as it affirms that you are not being a dork!!!!!! :-)

Annoying thing is papa Stoddart was born in Scotland but he died in 1852 :-(

Of course, I would love to find her birth family but that's an even more impossible task!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
