Looking for a spouse for Hubert Hancock who married in 1922 in Glamorgan Wales, her surname comes up as Lowe or Furlong. I'm guessing she may have been married before? Cant seem to find her forename tho :-S

Great stuff guys, I'm well pleased that the Furlong/Lowe mystery has been resolved.. I did see a family of Furlongs listed on the 1901 census where Sarah Gwendoline Furlong is listed as niece to William Roland Lowe, so assuming its his wife's niece from her side so that would be a Edwards!! But this Furlong family are just visitors, so are they not related to Sarah? I found the Furlongs on the 1911 census, but no Sarah who is still living with the Lowe's as adopted?? I'm confused, can anyone make a guess at who Sarah's parents could be... :-S :-S :-S

I have managed to trace a death for Sarah Gwendoline Furlong (married name Hancock) it says her date of birth was 26 May 1896. I have tried freebmd but it still doesn't say who her mother was. :-S

Mmm! I have just discovered she had a twin Mary Winifred Furlong born 26 May 1898 Pontypool Wales, died 1897 aged 1 .Still cant find the parents tho :-S

The Mothers maiden name does not appear on birth registrations until 1911.....so you would need to purchase a copy of Sarah's birth cert to find out that information.

Note that Sarah was born in the 1st quarter of 1897...so whoever registered her death, got her birth date wrong

This is interesting.......

On the 1901 census, Frederick and Jane Furlong have 2 children....Lily and Frederick.

Their marriage...

Lily and Fredrick appear with their parents on the 1911 census.

The census states.......4 children born, 3 living, 1 had died.

Could it be then that Sarah Gwendoline is the other living child and her twin Mary Florence is the child that died??........meaning Frederick and Jane are the parents??

OMG Prickly Holly, you could be right there!!! I did wonder about the Furlong family on the 1901 census, but was thrown when it listed Sarah Gwendoline Furlong as niece and the rest of her family as visitors...Need to look into this one.. Thanks :-D

Sarah Gwendoline's marriage cert to Hubert John George Hancock should give you details about who her father was....

And her birth cert will give you details about her Mother.

I have my money on Frederick and Jane being her parents........but to be 100% sure......you will need to purchase a copy of one of those certificates.
