Find Ancestors

Thanks Flip. It may not be a Frederick connection but the dates are close enough to possibly be William Lee's (grandad of my William) father. However, William doen't appear 'til 1891 census.
Should get the birth cert next week, so hopefully will be closer to finding which family line he comes from.

My mother in law has a birth cert for Alice Amelia Whiffin, she also has marraige cert for her and Edrick Cann, but on it she's called Alice Katherine!! Why would they do that? I can't find an Alice Katherine on any census. Does that invalidate the marraige?

The Johnson family had been in Hinton Blewett for years, father Samuel died in 1866 and had been rector for 34 years. Obviously taken over by his son.

Not sure I'm following you trail on the Lees. So you think some of your fathers ancestors may have been born in India - would they be your grand or great grand parents? How far back have you got with any certainty?

If you want to post up the details of who you think is the direct descendant of the one born India we can try to follow it through. If it's too recent and you don't want to post you could PM me the details & I'll see if I can find anything.

Until I get the birth cert I've ordered I'm not sure which of the families to follow. If the William Edward born in Taunton has Sarah Ann (or Mary Ann) as his mother I think it's the family you've just put on.

The Frederick Lee is a longshot really.It's just that the Head William was born in India, as was Frederick. Fred was staying with relatives in Taunton. If William & Fred related that could be the Taunton connection for the baby ie mother sent to relatives to have the baby.

I'll just have to wait on the post!!! :-S
