I see that Arthur, wife Alice and daughter Florence seem to disappear after the 1881 census.......which makes me wonder if perhaps they emigrated taking Sarah Jane with them?

Well until Michelle comes back with what she knows about her, it's all just speculation at the moment.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

The Lily mentioned in the 1891 census is my great grandmother.

Lily was about 10 when her parent's died within a year of each other.

When Lily died family found the names of Sarah 1868, Albert 1854, Alice 1856 and Edwin 1859 written on some paper stating these where the brothers and sisters of Lily's father William.

Lily was placed in an orphanage following her parent's death so unfortunately we don't know anything else about her fathers family.

Once again I can't thank you enough for your time and help.

Unfortunately Vera is in a home for the elderly. I have been to visit her but she is not well and is having problems with her memory.

She can remember coming to NZ on a boat, knows her parent's names but is very vague about where they came from in England. Knows they lived on a farm but is not sure where.

I have tried contacting Vera's children but they are not interested in family history so I have drawn a blank there.
