Help please

I have recently found an old Seaman's Identity card Issued by the
US Customs Service dated June1918...at the port of Norfolk, VA
Date of arrival June 27th 1918 on board the vessel Lena
The card was issued to Maurice Shanahan giving his nationality as british
his age 29 on April 26th, 1918,
I am asking for help re; the above because my grandmother was a Shanahan and the card I found in among her effects...
Any thoughts would be most welcome

When and where was your grandmother born, and what information have you got about her parents?

Quite a few Maurice Shanahans born around 1889 ... mostly in Ireland.

The one that Patchem posted was born in Iowa and mother's maiden name was Probasco.

My Mums mother Mary Winifred Shanahan was born Tramore County Waterford Ireland in 1883

she married in Liverpool to a William George Ashley born in 1872

she had two children Herbert born 1908 and my mum Eileen Thelma in 1910

Thank you so much that is an excellent piece of information
So Maurice is my grandmother's brother born in Tramore Waterford

The reason for my wanting find about Maurice was the fact that my grandmother
died shortly after the birth of my mum and my grandfather promptly shipped the two kids over to Tramore to be brought up by the Shanahan family and grandfather remarried within four months of this happening
