Absolutely no way of knowing for sure Kathleen! In the 1911 irish census there are two pages of Meldrums in Fermanagh.

I found a headstone for James and Margaret Meldrum in Fermanagh. Could this be the Meldrum family I'm looking for?

The 1881 Scotland Census about Francis and Elizabeth Devlin list Francis' place of birth as Ireland. I believe I found the Fermanagh connection through a cousin who had done some research but I'm not absolutely positive.

So from that information you know that Mary Scott nee Meldrum may have died in Scotland. You know that she was born about 1764 in Ireland. Presumably she died before statutory registration began in Scotland in 1855 as you don't have a death registration for her. On the census she is listed as a pauper so may have claimed poor relief. It may be worth checking if the poor relief records for West Kilbride have survived as these often give birth parishes, death dates for spouses, names of parents and names of spouses parents.

When and where were Christie and Mary Meldrum married?
This will give a better idea of when they born.
How many children did they have and any idea of their names and dates of birth?
Anything else that would narrow down the search.

Who 'had 11 children'?

Who were the parents of Elizabeth?

Who died in 1888? It seems unlikely to have been the couple about whom you are actually asking...................

Hi,

I'm looking for connections to my 4x great grandparents Christie Scott and Mary Meldrum from Ireland. Their daughter Mary Ann Scott was born in 1816 in Fermanagh, Ireland. She married Thomas Mclaughlin, born in 1803 in Fermanagh. At some point, they moved to Scotland and both died there around 1888.

They had 11 children, including my 2x great grandmother Elizabeth who was born in West Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scotland in about 1832.

Does anyone have any information on who Christie's and Mary's parents were?

Thanks,
Kathleen Devlin Monks
