That's a breakthrough for my research... I haven't yet traced James Sargent (son of Thomas and Nancy Ann Taylor death which would have been after 1866 (youngest son James born 1866) and before 1871 where Sarah is widowed and remarried in 1872 to William Leck. James would have been born c1824

Eringobragh1916 Report 10 Nov 2013 13:06

I would imagine that is the case for the family listed..all have Irish as their "Origin"

Treemadnancy Report 9 Nov 2013 10:27

Gosh!!! thanks guys! am I seeing right tho, does that last census with James and Sarah's son Wallace say he's of Irish origin???? Would I be correct in assuming that his grandfather Thomas could be from Ireland??

A lookup at LAC gets:
Given Name(s): Thomas
Province: Nova Scotia
District Name: Halifax (county)
Sub-District Name: Halifax

Since LAC uses Ancestry's transcription, I presume Ancestry points to the same image(s).
However, the name on the image is James Sergant.

Here's James Sargent in 1861
Province: Nova Scotia
District Name: Halifax
Sub-District Name: Middle Musquodoboit

Province: Nova Scotia
District Name: Halifax East
Sub-District Name: Middle Musquodoboit
[looks like farm is headed by the son with his widowed mum]

Try this site.....It has some "Sergent" BMDs for Halifax Co.

James b 1866 Middle Musquodoboit....May be son of James (1824)

alviegal Report 8 Nov 2013 20:01

Have you seen this link?

and this is James' descendants.

and this has a different spelling of the surname.

alviegal Report 8 Nov 2013 19:50

???? Just has head of household & wife. Looks like maybe a male and female between 20 and 30 and a male between 40 and 50 live there. This is by no means exact as it is very dark and the lines between households are not defined.

1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia about Thomas Sergant
Name: Thomas Sergant
Province: Nova Scotia
District: Halifax County
Sub-District: Halifax
Household Members:
Name Age

Reggie Report 8 Nov 2013 13:47

So that people who have access to Canadian records will pick up on it...........

Treemadnancy Report 8 Nov 2013 13:35

Why do I need to do this, so I know in future?? :-0

Treemadnancy Report 8 Nov 2013 13:33

Reggie Report 8 Nov 2013 13:29

You need to put CANADA in the title

Treemadnancy Report 8 Nov 2013 13:25

Trying to locate Thomas Sergant born 1785 according to his death in Middle Musquodoboit Nova Scotia Canada. He married Nancy Ann Taylor, cant find a marriage for them but they did have a son James born 1824 same place as mentioned above. I have found the "find a grave" where I see Thomas above who has died in 1860 and his wife Nancy Ann who has died in 1855. I am looking to find out where Thomas and Nancy were born where they married and who their parents were. I could only trace one Thomas Sergat born 24 June 1874 in Italy to parents Henry and Sarah, but its just a guess... I cant find a census which will at least tell me where he was born....Help!!
