I'm curious about this:

U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1885

Name: Michael Cobey
Gender: Female
Race: White
Marital Status: Single
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846
Birth Place: Ireland
Age: 33
Death Date: Jul 1879
Cause of Death: Phthisis Pulmonalis
Census Year: 1880
Census Place: New York, New York, New York
Line: 36

Ignore where it says Female definitely male on the image. Although it says Irish as nationality the thing that made me consider this is that he's a silver-plater of 108 Mulberry. That's the name of the street where the witness lived on the English Michael Cobey's naturalisation.

EDIT: Oh heck, fell into the same trap - see that's the one jax posted on the other thread!

These naturalisation documents don't give any arrival details or personal information such as age and occupation but they do confirm nationality as English:

ARC Title: Petitions for Naturalization, 1793-1906

and

This latter document gives an address of 71 Mutt Street, NYC.

Witness to naturalisation was a Michael Powell of 60 Mulberry Street NYC.

Hello Shirley, where did you get the information that he went to New York - do you have the passenger list?

Hi,
I'm trying to trace a Micheal Richard Cobey, who was born in 1845 in Plymouth. His parents were Daniel and Catherine Cobey. At the age of 25yrs old he went to New York , USA, but do not know if he got married or not, or if he came back to England or not, the trail goes cold, if some one knows any thing at all, please drop me a line, L would be grateful. Thank you.
Regards
Shirley (Cobie ) Ireland.
