I have found Emma and John on the 1911 census John working as Labourer for Drainage board. married for 6 years an no children.
I cannot find a marriage for John and Emma
John was in India in the army for some time.
I would be grateful for any help on this marriage

I can't find a marriage for them either. Perhaps they didn't actually marry. I can't see any other children for them.

I saw the Buffery couple on the 1911 but there is only 1 Emma Corns born in Warwickshire at the time around 1877

Wonder if she and King lived together and Alfred just entered her on the census?

Good point....especially as the King birth was AFTER 1911.

Perhaps Emma was commuting!

But Emma Buffery had an 8 month old son on the 1911 census. Surely she wasn't living with another man?

I wondered if they never married because she said when she (lily) was about 7 her mother died and the family wanted to take her off her father, so John got a barge to bring them to Sheffield from Birmingham. Lily never saw any of her extended family after that. wish we had got deeper into it at the time, Lily was a very secretive person
so didn't give a lot away
