ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Rose Report 18 Apr 2014 12:16

Henry was born 26/3/1862 Limehouse. He married Mary Ann Chamberlain 25/5/1885 St Paul Bow Common Church and had 4 children.
IN 1914 Poplar, I found marriage of Mary Ann (WID) to Joseph Lees

I cannot find Henrys death, nor can I see him on 1901 census.

I would be most grateful if someone can find his death please. Also his daughter
Lucy born 1891 Limehouse, if there was a marriage as I cannot find her death.

Thank you
Rose

Thank you so much for all your help. Looks though Lucy never married but not finding her death is still a mystery!. Astra...I have been looking for Henry for a few years and knew he was a mariner in 1885 but just could not find him. Are you able to tell me what type of vessel he was on?

You are brilliant.

Thank you
Rose

Astra

Astra Report 18 Apr 2014 15:36

If i remember from checking earlier the Ituna wasn't wrecked until 1921 and it was a cargo ship. So Henry was maybe taken ill or had an accident while on board and was hospitalised on the Azores where he died.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 18 Apr 2014 16:03

According to the image of the Maritime Deaths record, Henry Whapham was a Fireman on the Ituna. His last abode was 34 Northey Street, Limehouse.

He died of heart disease (with complications)

EDIT: Just checked the 1891 census and 34 Northey Street was their address then.
