Helen Report 1 Nov 2014 23:53

Please help, I am looking to discover parents of Kathleen Hinds born 1894 Easington, Durham. She seems to be in 1901 in St Mary's Home which appears to be run by nuns and have 123 girls - an orphanage? She is aged 7 and listed with a sister called Winifred aged 8, both sirnames spelt "Hines"..... this is the only Kathleen Hinds from Durham I can find so presume must be her. (Birth on 1901 is Seaham Harbour which is in Easington). So - I cannot find a birth of this sister, any siblings, deaths of any parents etc etc.
Kathleen married William Burns in 1914.

So if anybody has any ideas or info please help!

Thankyou

Welcome to the boards, Helen.

If you get her marriage certificate it may give a father for her.

Have you applied for it?

Helen Report 2 Nov 2014 01:49

He did! They had George in 1921, James in 1923 and Kathleen in 1927. It appears my Kathleen Hinds was christened Mary Kathleen which tripped me up, should have thought really! Although she died and William Burns re-married and had more children those I am now struggling with! (there was definately a Colin....).....

Thanks again

Her marriage certificate would tell us how old she was in 1914 ........ and thus give a better idea of where to look

There is this birth registration of a Mary Kathleen, but born in 1900, registered in Lanchester

I don't know County Durham very well ........ so have no idea as to whether this is close to the correct area or not

a Public Family Tree on ancestry has the following ......... although of course it may not be accurate because she doesn't seem to bought any certificates or anyhting

I throw it in here for what it is worth.

She does not show any children for the marriage.
