Philip

Philip Report 7 Oct 2016 19:05

I am searching for details of my Grandfather,Phillip Scott who appears on my own fathers birth certificate in 1911. His partner at the time may have been Mabel Spooner who in 1911 lived in Urmston, Manchester (census record).
Nothing is known of him after 1911 but he was known to travel to India to buy cotton and silks to sell to the drapery trade.

Any help greatly appreciated

Philip Scott

So occupation is nothing to do with buying and selling of cloth, so there is a mistake somewhere????

What makes you say that he travelled to India?

It would help if we had more details to help us search ................

for example ....

mother's name and maiden name for the birth certificate

date and place of birth

name of Philip's father.

On the other hand if Philip is hoping to get replies from someone connected with the family ..............

Philip .................. you should Search All Member Trees

Go to Search at the top right

Click on Search All Member Trees

If any member has Philip Scott or your father's name in their tree, they will be shown

Contact that member or members by the internal messaging system

Then hope they respond.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 7 Oct 2016 21:07

Looks like the same person - with 2 L's, as stated by Philip:

Phillip Scott
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: Phillip Scott
Arrival Date: 4 Oct 1910
Birth Date: abt 1883
Birth Location: Ireland
Birth Location Other: tipperany
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Irish
Port of Departure: London
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Minneapolis

The image says he was single, and his NOK in UK was his father, (not named) at 140 Whitburn (something beginning with B - Bdgs ??), Cromar Street, in a town beginning with K. Can't read it - it's got a thick black line through it.

He's a non-immigrant alien. No occupation given.

EDIT: Yes, occupation given as "Horseman"

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 7 Oct 2016 21:11

and again ??

Phillip Scott

Birth Date: abt 1883
Age: 45
Gender: Male

That one's a crew member - an assistant steward.

He also failed to join the same ship, London - NY - in December 1928.

I couldn't find any Phil*ip Scotts sailing to or from India

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 7 Oct 2016 21:13

When was he "known to travel to India", Philip?

Was that before or after 1911?
Sounds like it should have been before, if "nothing is known of him after 1911"?
