Carol Report 2 Nov 2016 12:15

I have a memorium card with above date for a burial in South Molton Churyard, Devon. I think he may be my great great great grandfather, The only things I can be sure of is that my Grandfather was William Henry Tucker, he was born 1891 ish and died 1954 in Walthamstow. His parents were Charles Tucker, and Rebecca Tucker ( nee Piper) they lived in Bristol and Charles was a shoe maker and they come to london around 1900 what happened to Charles I have no idea, as in a later census he is not around. Charles Tucker father was I think Edward Tucker who also came from Devon I think . Who John is I am not sure, and what happened to Charles Tucker ( great Grandfather) is a mystery. any one have any ideas.

This is some of what I have so far:

Do you have William Henry's birth certificate? It's just that they already have a son William on the 1891 census.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 2 Nov 2016 12:37

No problem, Dea. It's just confusing that Carol said that William Henry was born 1891ish. One would think that she wouldn't be 7 years out when he's her grandfather.

Carol

Carol Report 2 Nov 2016 12:44

Well I am not sure when he was born William Henry that is, I am only sure when he died which was 1953/4 and I know he was 71 when he died so my maths are well out :-(

Dea

Dea Report 2 Nov 2016 12:44

Yes, she didn't give me date of birth or death details for William this morning si I had no problem believing this was the correct one as she had given parent names.

I can't at the moment see a 1954 death in Walthamstow (which would come under West Ham) either ?

William Henry's death?

Tucker William H 82 Essex S.W. 5a 179

If the age is correct, he was born far earlier than 1891.

If we are looking at Essex S.W. Reg. then it is more likely to be this one??

Just to add to Dea's 1851 census for John Tucker, Carpenter born Devon c1805, and son Edward born Devon c1834, the census image has Sth Moulton for John's birthplace, and dittoed for Edward.

SO Edward's baptism, with father John a carpenter, and mother Elizabeth?

Last name Tucker
Birth year 1833
Birth date 31 Jul 1833

We obviously have the correct family so I am trying to link that memorial card perhaps to the John who we have on the 1851 census as father of Edward - it does seem very likely but I would like to find the family on 1841.

If it is the same one he obviously went back to Devon so I would like to find him through the census's to get him back there before 1889 when he died.

Having difficulty with this.................
