Help please in trying to find Lucy Sophia Wingfield in the census records 1841 and 1851 all I can find is her birth and her marriage. Many thanks

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Feb 2017 00:15

Is this her birth?

Births Jun 1841 (>99%)
Wingfield Lucy Sophia St Jas West 1 102

In case helpers aren't aware of the Registration district, its St James Westminster and it is in the county of Middlesex;

As for not finding her on the 1841 census, its possible that she wasn't born until after the census date of June 6

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Feb 2017 00:27

Her birth reg from the new search on GRO gives her mothers maiden name

WINGFIELD, LUCY SOPHIA (mmn) JACKSON
GRO Reference: 1841 J Quarter in SAINT JAMES WESTMINSTER Volume 01 Page 102

Do you have her parents names?

Her marriage
Marriages Dec 1859 (>99%)
Wingfield Lucy Sophia Malling 2a 585

Oh OK, Obviously that is the case, Unless she can be found in the 1851 census I will not be able to proceed further down the Wingfield line. Thanks Detective

The date of birth was just a suggestion. You could buy the birth certificate as that would give the names of both of her parents?

May be someone else can find her or her family. Ancestry is playing up as it often does at this time of night. Might her father have been a soldier and the family travelled with him abroad or to Ireland??

I have tried to find a marriage for Wingfield and Jackson with no luck. Perhaps he was a soldier.

I am doing the tree for a friend, have already bought a couple of Certs so really don't want to go into too much expense, but if I have to then so be it. Thought I would go through this route first to see if anyone can come up with some ideas.

(does above relate here?)

(not seeing a Baptism Find My Past, they have a Westminster Collection)

It certainly looks like it, Chris.

As this is the second attempt to sort out her birth family, it looks as if the BC is the only option.

Although we love to help by look up records, it's preferable that you don't start new threads about the same family or person. Just add a sentence to the original thread to bring it back to the top of the page.

Sorry about duplicating the topic, hadn't realised I had done it already.. Malyon , that's an interest thought, her being under another name. Will have to look up a Skenner/Wingfield marriage. I have just seen the marriage of her to William Richards and it states her father William Wingfield

John Report 12 Feb 2017 13:39

Just looked Lucy Skenner up and it is Lucy Skinner but I see she is a Lucy Hannah Skinner.

malyon

malyon Report 12 Feb 2017 14:04

just looked again there is no lucy Hannah skinner born 1841 in Westminster area

Do remember that Civil Registration didn't start until 1837 and those for births didn't come compulsory until 1873. We've probably all found families where may be the first born, or the boys, were registered and the rest weren't.

still think that lucy skinner in census I posted could be your lucy her mother may have been living with a skinner so used that name for lucy when she went to school
