VAIL was my maiden name. Have found lots of stories of Vails in the U.S., but have no info from the U.K. I have been told that the name is a contraction of MacPhail, and that the family moved from Scotland (Inverary)after the 1745 rebellion, to Huntingdonshire. Does anyone out there have similar info?
