Hi, My mother's father was William Stephenson, born in 1897 in Sunderland, Durham. His father was also William Stephenson, born 1871-2, also in Sunderland. These Stephensons are said to be related to George Stephenson (of steam locomotion/civil engineering fame) possibly through one of George's brothers or uncles, perhaps William or John. My mother sees a striking resemblance between photographs of George Stephenson and her Grandfather, William Stephenson. It would be lovely if we can piece together any more of our tree. If anything sounds familiar to you I would be really grateful if you would make contact. Good luck in tracing your family history. Many thanks, Susan Anderson (nee Young)
