Seeking info on my ancestors/descendants of my great grandfather, James CHAMBERS. I have his marriage cert to my gg/mother, Isabella Duncan, 22 March 1875 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was 24 yrs old, hence born circa 1851. Address on marriage cert was 1095 Fountainbridge, Edinburgh. James' father is shown on the cert as John Chambers, Oil Cake Maker and mother Mary Chambers (nee Robinson). I have his parents' marriage cert: 23 Dec 1848 in parish of Holy Trinity, Hull, county of Said Town - John Chambers, occupation Seed Crumbler of Finkle Court to Mary Robinson of Myton Gate; John's father shown as David Chambers, Mariner; Mary's father as Alexander Robinson, Labourer. James CHAMBERS and Isabella moved to #8 Silver St., Rotherhithe (Bermondsey), S.E. London and are shown on the 1901 census to have had 7 children living with them: Christina, Alfred, Emma, Harry, Isabella, George and Frank. The 2 oldest sons, James and Joseph had obviously left home by that time. I was told by family that sons Jim and Joe lived at one point in the Surrey Docks area in London and that they both became City of London policemen. My grandmother was Emma Chambers (their 5th child). In 1881 the family was shown as living at 1 Ebenezer Place Sculcoates, York. I also have the marriage cert of Isabella's parents: Thomas Duncan and Ann Herris, 4 Feb 1850, living at 4 West Richmond St., parish of St. Cuthberts, Midlothian. Any assistance to expand knowledge on my CHAMBERS clan will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Margaret Vancouver Canada
