Hello

I am researching a Sergeant Richard Corridon of the 51st Regiment of Foot and was delighted to come across your very interesting account of your Great Grandfather James Kersley; because they appear to have been fellow soldiers and what you have written about James, is answering some of the questions we have about Richard.

Richard has 5 sons and it is through their birth certificates that we are tracing his career. Richard married a Mary Maguire and apparently her father disapproved of their relationship as well. So, according to family lore, they had to elope.

March 1864 Chatham in Kent
May 1868 Farnborough in Hampshire
Feb 1871 Waterford Ireland
Nov 1873 Fyzabad, India
May 1878 Subathu - Bengal

We have a final record of Richard's death on the 26th June 1879 - the entry says he was at Ali Musjid.

I would very much appreciate it if you could let me know what your sources were for researching James during his time with the 51st so that I could look at them myself to see if Richard is mentioned. You also mention at various points "see extracts from the "Bugle". Can you let me also know how to locate this particular archive as well.

Kind regards

Trevor
