I have established that a Joseph Parker lived with Florence Smedley - my wife's Grandmother - at Navigation Street, Leicester from about 1923 to 1928/9. At that time she changed her name to Parker, but reverted to Smedley in 1930. It was believed that JP was the Father of Florence's children but the Bcerts don't identify a father. This JP was supposed to have been connected to the Fire Service in Leicester and to have been in the US forces in the 1890s!! Thats all I know - ring any bells? Peter
