Surname "Quick". Heard that it may have developed from the village of Barton Kewick, near Torquay. Kewick mutated to Quick over the years and may have had nothing to do with quick thinking or agility. Anecdotal evidence for this MAY be noted by the number of "Quicks" in the Devon phone book compared to the population numbers.
