Member Since: May 2003 Posts: 2 Send Message	I was told by my father that a YATT was an old English name for a Gate. Therefore, Byatt, Hyatt, Myatt, Wyatt would have been gate keepers, or keepers of the gate. I think this name went back to the middle ages or before. Lorna (Byatt)
