I am trying to find info on GEORGE STEVENS, he was born 1847 in IRELAND. He was a painter & he married Matilda Anslow CORKE. Hello Kevin, what sort of info are you looking for, and what do you already have?

You mention that he was born Ireland - where did you get that from, as the records above show Croydon?

Where did you get the information that his wife was Matilda Anslow Corke?

EDIT: I've noticed there are a few trees on ancestry that seem to have copied this information from each other but there are no sources to back it up. You can tell they've just copied without checking as they've all got the same mis-spelling of MatilTa!

I would say it's quite definite that George was born Croydon not Ireland.

The Matilda Corke that those ancestry trees have was born in Tonbridge Wells, Kent in 1857. I think this is more likely to be that lady's marriage:

They'd had 12 children born, 11 still living.

The form had been filled in by Thurston Bird on George's behalf.

Oops the 91 census that Astra posted seems to be the right family but the children all match the 1901 census that I posted with parents George & Matilda and George born Croydon.

I must admit I made a mistake posting the 91 and 81 censuses, the children don't match. I was a little too hasty!

Margee, the 1901 that you posted where it says he was born in Croydon is definitely the same family as the 1911 that I've posted, but I think your others are different family.

I think this is the correct 1881 (Croydon again!)
