Since I posted this I've traced the brother, Roland Graham Williamson b 1906 and believe I found the reason for the split - my great grandfather married again after his wife died and my grandmother was bitterly opposed to the marriage but her brother witnessed it. My g grandfather died 5 months later and sadly I suspect they never made it up. Has taken me 6 years after this post to find out what happened (and a few years before) but guess it goes to prove that it's worth persevering!

Good luck to everyone else who is searching.

Emma :-)

This is a long shot but who knows? There were rumours that my grandmother had a brother apart from the sister and brother we knew about but she wouldn't discuss it. Her brother died in the 70s, her sister in 1969 and she died in 1987. Have since found that the brother did exist and was called Graham Williamson (born between 1906 and 1916). He lived in Manchester and was married but don't know if he had any children. My grandmother was Marjorie, her sister Dorothy (Dodo) and her brother Malcolm. The three siblings were very close and I'd love to know the history of why the family split - and if there are any relatives. Their parents were Alfred Birch Williamson and Nelly Graham. Have my Williamsons back to c1800 and they were all in Manchester. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Many thanks Emma
