Hi Geof welcome to the boards

I dont know if you noticed, but Carol posted this in 2006 and may not be checking for replies now.

You could try and contact her by clicking on her name and sending a private message. If her email address is still the same she will be notified

Hi Carol...

Otho / Otto QUAYLE is the brother of my paternal Grandmother.
Born [23 Dec ?] [1882?] (there is some confusion in the records, so 1882/1883) at Shavington, Cheshire.

Parents: Charles Hewitt QUAYLE and 3rd wife Annie GRIFFITHS / WRIGHT.

Otto married Gertrude Alberta Maria PEARSE, Dec 1918, Hendon Reg District, Middlesex.

One child: Robert QUAYLE. Born 1920 Hendon R D.

I did not know that he has a middle name C.... [Charles ? from his Grandfather ?]

1939-1945 :
(i) Commissioned Army Officer (Captain / Major ?) in Royal Artillery(?)
(ii) Special Service
(iii) Commando Regt

Post war: Foreign Office overseas posting to 'Africa'. - I think this may have been South Africa.

1950s?: in Melbourne, S Australia ; possibly also in New Zealand.

He may have married while living in in S Africa.

That is all I have on Robert QUAYLE, although we have built up a large database on the QUAYLE family.

Where do you fit in ?

Geof
