SAVAGE - (also Ruffell and Vaughan)

Seeking information on John Savage (Bantamweight boxer) born Bermondsey, London 1876. His father George Savage died in 1878. John's mother Jane Stone was born in Limpsfield, Surrey in 1851. (She also had a son called Harry Stone born in Limpsfield in 1870/1). Jane later married a Henry Collis (Henry Hughes). John married Jane Ellen Vaughan in 1907 in Portsmouth, Hants. Their son John Willie Savage was born 1908 in Portsmouth (my grandfather)

George Savage was possibly born in Depden or Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk 1839/40. His father was called John and was a horse keeper, his mother may have been called Mary Sparrow.
