I finally found them, living under the name of Stewart/Stuart on the Census', although they registered their children in the name of Hanlon. Couldn't get further back than John Hanlon's Father Roger Hanlon though.

hi have u tried the irish census as there is a lot of hanlons 4rm there . my uncle patrick hanlon came from county cork in the late 1940's you posted your's a while ago and might of found them by now .im just beging to serch irish census for his side of family. good luck if your still searching.

PLEASE HELP. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND MY HUSBAND'S PATERNAL GREAT GRANDPARENTS - JOHN HANLON AND HIS WIFE HARRIET NEE BRYANT. I CAN FIND NO TRACE OF THEM ON ANY CENSUS SO I DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY WERE BORN OR MARRIED. I HAVE THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR THEIR DAUGHTER ADA ELIZABETH HANLON b.29TH APRIL 1873, POINT PLEASANT, WANDSWORTH, LONDON, ALSO ADA'S MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE TO GEORGE HILTON ON 25TH DECEMBER 1895, WANDSWORTH. JOHN HANLON WAS STILL ALIVE THEN AND GAVE HIS OCCUPATION AS 'MUSICIAN'. ALL MY HUSBAND KNOWS ABOUT HIS GREAT GRANDPARENTS IS THAT HIS FATHER TOLD HIM 'MY GRANDPARENTS DANCED FOR QUEEN VICTORIA' THANKS IN HOPE GEORGINA HILTON
