Elaine,

Gemma posted her message in 2005 and has only 1 posting against her name. The chances of her seeing your message are very remote. Click on Gemma's name on the left and send her a personal message. If she still has the same e-mail address as when she joined GR she should get your message.

Hello Gemma
I've just read your message of 4 November 2005 regarding your grandfather Gordon Stobo.
In our family tree we have a Gordon Stobo who was the adopted son of Thomas Stobo and Roberta Moncreif Affleck. Their wedding took place in December 1920 in Scotland - probably in Edinburgh which is where Thomas was a banker. Presumably Gordon was born in the early 1920s but we don't know when the adoption took place.
We know that Gordon served in the Royal Navy and at a later stage had a bagpipe shop in Edinburgh. Several years ago we visited this shop and the present owner knew Gordon from the past and had worked with him. He said Gordon had been married more than once and the last he heard was that Gordon had emigrated to Australia.
Some of this fits with your story but we don't know anything else - other than Gordon was a bit of a lad for the ladies!

I am looking for my grandfather Gordon Stobo, or any relatives of his. He would be in his 70's now i think and he was married to my late grandmother, Elizabeth, Ada, Gray, Stobo, Smith. I am unsure if you are still alive. U have two children to my grandmother, Keith and Gail. Gail is my mother, who has also sadly passed away. The last recollection they have of seeing him was as children, and thought that he had possibly gone to Austraila, and i think he was possibly in the army. Places resided in could include Edinburgh and also Dundee, my grandmother last resided in Aberdeen for many years before her passing. Keith, my uncle is still living in Aberdeen. Would just like to know if you are still here, and have a chat if possible, i would really appreciate any information anyone has, and good luck to everyone else
