There are a few mentions of Peter Emans in the newspaper archives. Have sent a pm to Irene asking her to confirm if the info posted is relevant. If it is, I'll forward some articles.

1851 for her father, looks like the witness at marriage could have been a Hannam and possibly his brother in law, given his sister's name:

EMANS, Peter Head Widower M 73 1778 Retired Wine Merchant Blind Middlesex
HANNAM, Elizabeth Sister Widow F 66 1785 London, Middlesex
FRANKLIN, Emma Unmarried F 26 1825 Servant Chapelgate, Middlesex
WHEELER, Anne Unmarried F 19 1832 Servant Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Piece: 1469 Folio: 486 Page: 29
Registration District: Kensington
Civil Parish: Hammersmith

Address: 6, Theresa House, Hammersmith County: Middlesex
(Address is actually Theresa Terrace)

MarieCeleste

I know I shouldn't really do it but curiosity got the better of me.

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921

Name: Jane Emans
Spouse Name: Charles Frederick Pollard
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 15 Jun 1844
Parish: Hammersmith St Peter
Borough: Hammersmith and Fulham
Father Name: Peter Emans - gentleman
Spouse Father Name: Robert Blunde Pollard - gentleman
Register Type: Parish Register

Bride and groom both of full age and neither previously married.

Charles Frederick's occupation looks like "sayer". He was from Brompton, Kensington.

Jane was from what looks like St Peter's District, Hammersmith.

Witnesses: RB Pollard; F Pollard and Jxx P Evans (last one hard to read).

I'm not too sure, but given the last witnesses' name, I'm wondering if Jane's surname was actually Evans?

Hello Irene, if you'd like some help with your own research we'd be happy to try to help. You could start a thread of your own, go to the main page of "Find Ancestors" and click on "add topic".

Give as much info as you can about who you're looking for, the info on this link tells you how to go about it:

Hi Irene,

Welcome to the boards.

This post you have responded to by Tessa was posted in 2005 and she might not be looking at the boards anymore.

I suggest you click on Tessa's name and you can send her a personal message and if her email address hasn't changed then she will receive a email from GR.

In your message make sure you include the fact that even though she may not be a member anymore Tessa can still reply to your message without having to subscribe to GR.

Gai :-)
