MICHAEL WILSON born Cork Ireland 1856 married ALICE MARSDEN in Fulham London. Children Elizabeth (my grandmother) and one other daughter and at least two sons. In 1881 Census Michael is living in Fulham and is a Paper Maker. Later he is listed as a Paper Mill Manager. However, he got itchy feet and travelled across the Atlantic in search of his fortune, possibly to Pennsylvania? possibly working in Steel? taking one/two sons with him? He does seem to have prospered and when he sent for his wife and daughter, Alice would not 'cross the water' and so remained in London with the two daughters. I would dearly love to demolish this brick wall so if you have any knowledge of MICHAEL WILSON please let me know - are you a descendant of his American family - nothing will surprise me! Pat ... |
