Trying to find Davies

My great-grandfather EDWARD DAVIES emigrated from Llanrwst in Wales to America to look for gold c.1891. He was born in 1856 and at the time of his emigration was working as a leadminer in Nant Bwlch yr Heyrn. He never came back to Wales, and I have been completely unsuccessful in all my attempts to find references to him, including a transatlantic trip to Idaho Springs I took a few years ago. Edward Davies was a good musician, and family folk-history has it that he ended up playing piano in saloon bars to make money. If this rings any bells, I'd love to hear from you.
