Thought the following websites might be of help to any of you who are using the British Census records 1841-1901. They are too lengthy to be quoted here but include useful descriptions of some of the more unusual or now defunct occupations and also how to get the best out of using census information for your family tree research: A List of Occupations http://www.cpcug.org/user/jlacombe/terms.html A Useful guide to the British Census http://www.amlwchdata.co.uk/census_history.htm PS: Don't forget that there was no 1941 census (due to the war) and that although USA has 1920 census online, we in UK will not be privy to the next census of 1911 for another 8 years.
