Hi, I'm looking for info on a barge/canal boat family by the name of CLAYTON. My particular interest is in those who were around in the mid 1800s. I know that this is a big range of dates. The only info I have is that my great grandmother's great grandma (who was Romany) married a member of this family, and that there was a big uproar on both sides. My great grandma was born in Leicester in 1901, so this may be a link, but with both people coming from travelling families?. I've searched most of the genealogy sites I've found, but no joy. Hope someone can help.
