Hi Rebecca Sorry no luck with this one so far - do you have any dates/ages? Or which part of Australia? _____________________________________________ Hey Skye There are so many Edward Goodwin's it is very tricky. You would need to be sure. Your best bet is to find his marriage cert or death cert. Maybe Emma Susannah's birth or death cert would help (Aussie death certs have quite a lot of info). Sorry I can't help further, it would be brilliant to find a 1st fleet connection! Good luck! Cherilyn

Hi Gerry Sorry no luck with finding this family. No death for Emma or Frederick, nor a remarriage for Emma. There is a marriage for a Marjorie R WATERS in 1934 to Wilfred W THOMAS (reg 1078) which is a possibility; no deaths to match this information to your Marjorie however. I don't have emigration info to confirm the China tale either, sorry. Good luck! Cherilyn

Hi Cherilyn, thanks for the offer. I'm looking for some BMDs in Melbourne,Victoria, please Firstly, for 3 children who I've found in the 1871 British census, surname Beeby (sometimes mistranscribed as Bibby) Male Beeby born ~ 1855 Melbourn,Victoira William Beeby b ~ 1857 ' Esther Beeby b~ 1860 ' Parents are Nathan Beeby & Elizabeth Stubbs. I can't find a UK marriage for them...so that could also be in Melbourn area just before 1855. Elizabeth was originally married to David Stubbs in 1850 in Cumberland UK. I can't find his death in the UK.....did he possibly die in Australia? Hope this isn't too much to ask, many thanks, Louise

Hi Cherilyn funny enough I found Emma Sussanah Goodwin birth listing. Her surname is spelt with an extra 'n' Goodwinn. I have also noticed that Edward Goodwin had a son who he called Edward, however going earlier Ive noticed an Edward Goodwin naming his son Edward Goodwin and Ive also seen that on the 1st fleet there is an Edward Goodwin. Is there any way of going beyond the Edward Goodwin and mary Ann to see if Edwards father was also Edward. I would be very excited to find out if I can trace a line to the 1st fleet.

Hi there, Thank you for the kind offer of look ups. Not sure if you will be able to help on this one, but my Great Grandad Frederick Waters went to Australia on board the SS Otranto on 2nd Feb 1912, for a voyage to Freemantle which was scheduled to take 42 days. He was travelling with his second wife Emma Waters and their baby daughter Marjorie Waters who was under 1 year old at the time. I heard that not long after they arrived there, his second wife left him (presumably taking baby Marjorie with her) and possibly went to China, although this is only what I read in a letter from my Grandmother to the war office when my Great Grandfather died. I think the China part may be a ruse so that his second wife did not benefit from his estate. He aparently died in Perth in 1926. I would love to know what happened to any of them or any details on BMD's for any of them during their time in Australia. If you could shed any light on any of them it would be marvelous, but don't worry if you can't. Thanks again!

Skye Not sure why but I can't find any record of the Herman/Herrman/Hermann family you mention. Not Walter's birth nor his parents marriage. I will keep looking! The only thing I found is a death at sea for a George (de) SILVA (that is how it is written on the image of the actual document) in 1880 aged 'about 27' (or could be 29); he was a seaman on board Eric the Red. He drowned off Cape Otway with 3 other men on the 4th of September 1880. No other details are provided. (Death reg is 8846). :-) Cherilyn

Hi Cherilyn, could you look to see if you can find a marriage or death anywhere for Harry JOBES. I know he entered Victoria State in 1912 on the Runic from Canada. Totally lost him after that. His brother later went to NSW and I have all details of him and descendents. We'd just like to know where Harry went too. Many thanks Daphne

Hi Cherilyn I hope you can help. I have two tasks for you if you have the time :-) 1. Im looking for all relatives of Walter Augustus Herman (Herrman or Hermann. Yes It was spelt several ways depending on the person doing the spelling I would think LOL) He was born in 1888 and died 1955. His parents were John and Emma. I believe I found their marriage date as 1881 Richmond but would need to verify 100%. I would like to find out more about John and Emma and also if Walter had brothers and sisters. Walter married Estella Hawkins but left or divorced her. 2. Bella silva died 1961 she never married Walter Herman but she did have children with him (my dad was one of them) Her death cert. says she was born in Goulburn however I can not find anything on the NSW BDM. I do believe they lived in Victoria so she may well have been born down there. Her parents were George Silva and Mary Ann Murphy (1867-1949). She had a brother George DOB ? Died 1942 and a sister Ruby DOB ? Died as Ruby Clancy (cant remember the date) I dont have any other details about her father George except that he may have died at sea in Victoria ( i think he was a ships cook) Mary Ann lost their house in gambling debts and they moved to Sydney (so I am told, my dads a gambler so i tend to believe it LOL) If you can help with that I would greatly appreciate it.
