I've been on the web site 'Findmypast' and there's (wait for it!) a Simeon Brown b.1893 living in Basford, Nottingham but because i'm not registered with that site, I can't find out about our mystery man. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Rita x

Hi Jane , please may I have a look up, I hope it will be straight forward, (hopefully) anyway here we go... William Barber was aged 11 years in the 1861census, I have found him in the 1881, wonder if you can find him in the 1891 census please I believe he was married to a Elizabeth (weren't they all? lol). also the 1871 would be great if it is straight forward...I have noticed there are two people by this name who were born in Bungay Suffolk round about the same time, which doesn't help, William' parents are Rebecca Chatten and Charles Chatten on the 1861 census, yeah, I know different surname, I know this was William's mother, not to sure about the father....lol....so 1891 and 1871 please, just in case I have lost you...lol.....many thanks ....Lilly

Hi Jane, Thanks for your work on Thread 5. After liasing with my two new found relatives, I have a couple of searches I would like you to do if possible. 1841 English Census Any families with the surname GILES living in HEYTESBURY, WILTSHIRE. I am looking specifically for Emma Giles or Emma D Giles who would be about 20 years old, possibly a father called William, mother called Ann/e but any Giles results would be grateful. 1851 English Census Any Giles family from HEYTESBURY, WILTSHIRE but don't look for Emma D Giles as she is married to John terrell at this point 1851 English Census Any John, Living with an Emma, with one child called either Emma or Mary (between 3-5 yrs old) with perhaps a second child called Arabella (Less than 3 mths old) living in Wiltshire/Somerset ? Many thanks Paul Beverley

Hi Again Paul, 1841 - only Giles' in Heytesbury Ann Giles abt 1786 Wiltshire, England Heytesbury Wiltshire John Giles abt 1809 Wiltshire, England Heytesbury Wiltshire --------------- High st George Baker abt 1826 Wiltshire, England Warminster Wiltshire Christena Beckel abt 1826 Wiltshire, England Warminster Wiltshire James Dinwridey abt 1826 Warminster Wiltshire ***Emma Giles abt 1821 Wiltshire, England Warminster Wiltshire John Tanner abt 1831 Wiltshire, England Warminster Wiltshire ------------------------------------- 1851 mmmmm interesting with the YOUNG nephew !!! Little London John Giles abt 1808 Heytesbury, Wiltshire, England Head Heytesbury Wiltshire LABR, MARRIED John Young abt 1845 Heytesbury, Wiltshire, England Nephew Heytesbury Wiltshire John Poole abt 1840 Warwickshire, Wiltshire, England Son-in-law Heytesbury Wiltshire No sign of the above Ann in 1851, so presumed deceased as aged about c65 AND GET THE FLAGS OUT, AND THE BIGGEST HUG YOU CAN MANAGE............... I THINK I HAVE GOT THEM IN 1851 !!!! but am i going mad or should their name be Terrell ???? Jane . . You superstar !!!! <Paul starts to kneel and lifts his hands up and down in a worshiping sort of movement> Ok . .where do we start ??? 1841 Census for Ann Giles (1786) and John Giles (1809) - This looks a spot on match. Emma D Giles parents look like they were William Giles (1776) and Ann Hains (1786) and their third child of seven was John Giles (1807) so it looks like the mother and child. 1841 High Street - What? Emma Giles is 20 years old and she lives with 3 x 14 year olds and a 10 year old. She sounds like Fagan running a pickpocket ring. How bizarre but what a great spot !!! 1851 Little London - John Giles (1808) looks like the fourth son of William Giles & Ann Hains (or Emma D Giles' older brother) and John Young (1845) must be a child of Joel & Emma perhaps ????? 1851 Union Workshouse - Shivers down my spine !!! This is what Family History is all about. I have chased the Terrell's for years and it looks like Mary was an Emma and a Young and not a Terrell !!! And now that has opened a MASSIVE hornet's nest. Sep 1842 Marriage - Believe it or not but this certificate is ALREADY in the post as the man from Warminister called me today. Now the 1851 census says Emma Young (1848) and Arabella Young (1850) so I have done some searches Births - 1843 O-D Warminster 8-431 Emma Young* 1843 O-D Warminster 8-431 Mary Young* 1848 6 Possible Emma Young Births in Wiltshire but non in Warminster 1848 A-J Warminster 8-478 Arabella Young 1850 J-M Wincanton 10-562 Arabella Young Deaths 1866 O-D Bristol 6a-14 Joel Young (The only death between 1845-1871 that fits the bill and he is 48 that make his birth 1818 which is about right) although a death after a couple of certificates have suggested he is dead 1895 A-J Wincanton 5c-324 John Young (79 yrs old in 1895 would be 1816 Birth which is a couple of years out, a death after a lot of certificates have suggested he is dead plus she would of divorced him to marry John Terrell * = (In case the last digit in 1848 is a three and her birth is the first after the 1842 marriage. Spooky, there is both an Emma & Mary birth on same page !!! I may get the marriage cert on Saturday so i will get back to you to confirm her father is William and therefore Joel is the man Paul x
