Sarah Sorry - unable to find them using just those details, maybe the little one was not yet born. Have you any idea of the parents ages? Pen x

Hi Pen, Sorry but my fathers memory is atrocious! All he can remember is Doris's mothers side of the family were Wastney's (although the spelling may be wrong) they too were around Grenoside, Yorkshire. Doris was the eldest child. I've ordered Doris birth cert from GRO, but don't know if it'll be the full one or not, as the one we have at home is just the short version. I'll let you know when I get it, but it may be a week or two...Thanks very much, Paula

Thankyou Pen and David...Wasteney/Wastney may cause a few problems, but it certainly all looks about right from location and ages...thanks eversomuch for all the hard work! Don't know how you do it - I've tried but end up paying to search pages of rubbish and then I can't ever read the handwriting on census's! I have spent most of the afternoon researching Herbert Hawksworth (the stonemason) so I'm hoping he's my great-grandfather after all this - I've found his maternal line back to the 1841 census, but can't find the paternal line before 1871. But I tell you it's taken me all day, just to search this...! I'll let you know as soon as I get the brith certificate and the marriage cert. Certainly Audrey Wasteney Hawksworth sounds very like my Aunt Audrey...not sure where Leslie fit into it...don't know if he was the middle child or the youngest, although from the birth dates of Doris and Audrey I imagine he was the youngster... Anyhow, thanks again, I'll contact you when I get the certs... Kindest regards, Paula x

Hi Pen, Well that is Herbert's lineage sorted, though which George 1852 is his father could be more difficult. Paula Elizabeth may have to invest another £7. I think the other side of the family will keep me going until the rain stops. Where is the nearest place you can go paddling in the sea? Our family had a holiday in Blakeney when I was about 8 and my father found out that you need to know where the sandbanks are before you go out in a sailing dinghy, not at high tide! Regards, David

Hunstanton - about 20 - 25 mins away. Takes about an hour in the summer though, but only if your not local and don't know the back lanes, lol. We go up there most Friday nights throughout the summer - paddle in the sea, nice walk along the beach and fish and chips ! Pen x
