Kathryn No sign of marriage Found his birth on info you gave Name: Frederick Hiram Loveday Year of Registration: 1881 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Fulham County: Greater London, London, Middlesex Volume: 1a Page: 214 I can't seem to see him in any censuses it would be worth investing in his birth cert as that would give you his parents names then maybe we could find him. Hope this may help. Zoe

Hi Zoe, I'm trying to track parents of Daniel THOMPSON and his wife Ellen WARDLEY. I have him on all the census's since he married Ellen WARDLEY in 1849 in Preston Lancashire. Daniel THOMPSON was born c1825 Preston, Lanc & Ellen WARDLEY c1821 Preston, Lancs according to census's after their marriage. They had 4 children and seemed to have lived at the same address in Preston until they died. I can't seem to locate them before they married along with parents and siblings Can you help? thanks again Lisa

Hi Zoe The information I have has come from my mum.Fred was born in Fullham in 1881 'but I haven't a clue where May was born or when as her background is a mystery. My mum is certain they were married but doesn't know when.I do know they moved to India at some stage as my nan was born there in 1908.My mum however,is sure they were married in England, but she is a bit vague to say the least! kathryn

Hi Zoe - It looks as though you were right in taking the name Martha as being that of Mary also. With one wife (Mary) and all the dates etc., it all drops into place. Even in the 1841 Census regarding John Cornelius (This could be the father of Mary - only thing is - the Mary born in 1841 to (Mary & Richard Nicholas) must have died as there are no references to a 'Mary' born in 1841 in later records... Again, many thanks.. John

Zoe, that was a tremendous amount of work, something which I really do appreciate. You could well be right about Martha/Mary being the same. All the family you have kidly listed are the ones which I am working on, and thanks to you, just about finished. I am going to settle down for awhile and piece them all together. Once again Zoe, many, many thanks - I don't know what the rest of us would do without people like yourself... Take care... John

If so do you know when as you should order their marriage cert should have his fathers name on there if he knows who it is. It doesn't seem like she married can't see any of the children's birth's. As I said the best bet is to order your grandads marr cert Zoe

Hi again, I've plotted out the birth places and dates from the 1901 census in an effort to pinpoint where they are hiding in 81 and 91: 1851 Bethnal Green Thomas W Day Born 1853 Bethnal Green Esther ? Born 1876 Poplar Thomas W Day Born 1879 Poplar Myra E Day Born 1882 Poplar George H Day Born 1886 Stepney David A Day Born 1889 Hackney Martha E Day Born 1891 Plaistow Henry Day Born 1896 Bromley John Day Born I've tried to find Myra's birth, but only found a thin possibility of Myra being the second middle name of a Maud Catherine born in Poplar in 1879. However the family should be in that area in the 1881 census? I also looked up Plaistow for 1891, which could be either West Sussex or Herefordshire. I've no reason to believe they ever went near either of those counties though. So I looked for the births of Henry Day's in 1891 and found: 1890 Bethnal Green, 1891 Bromley or 1892 West Ham (which comes up in the next generation). These all seem very possible. Please could you see if you can find them on either census in those places? Yours, wishing they had an unusual name, very grateful again, Heidi

Amanda Was your grandad the first born? I have looked through the marriage records for 1915-1919 with the exception of 2nd quarter 1915 and 3rd quarter 1918(as these were not on Ancestry)! When you say you have searched BMD do you mean free BMD or have you looked through the pages of the GRO records If you have not done the latter I would suggest going to Ancestry and searching their BETA BMD link is on homepage of ancestry just below search box to the right it should be highighted in Blue. I would say search from 1911-1915 and see if you find anything, I was doing the lookup with the Steeden name~ but if she was married before she would have a different surname, so she would only have been 16/17 in 1911 so if you search from there onwards hopefully you should find her, if not try after 1919~ as I have already looked upto this point. If you have any probs just ask and I will help Zoe

Lynette Do you possibly have a fathers name from a marriage cert or some other info as there are 3 George Embletons born 1830+/- 2 in 1841. The area you say he may have been from there are none in that area. Why don't you try to get a passenger list lookup you may find out when he left & maybe some others of his family left also! With so little info it's very hard to know you have the right one. If you get any more info please do get back to me Zoe
