Jane Report 19 May 2006 22:30

Lynette, now have had a look for this family on 1901 and earlier census' and all i can come up with is William b. 1867 , Wolverhampton in 1871 & 1881. i am a little confused as to what relation they are to each other, are they brother & sisters, married, who's children are Harriet & Charles??? if you could shed any light on this matter for me, i'll have another look for you..... Jx UPDATE , now realise Sarah Ann is daughter but b 1890 , not 1870 as you told me lol, having found them in 1891, so still looking for 1901 be right back

Hi this family are proving to be a pain to trace. William and jemima were both born 1870 i have their certificates. However from 1870-1891 william cant be traced at all, but his wife i found lots. I have them on the 1891 census living in graiseley passage with their daughter sarah, but they dasappear again on the 1901. charles and harriet are william and jemimas children but im a little unsure of their dates of births, due to lack of census or certificates. Hope this is of help lynette

Jane Report 20 May 2006 18:43

Hi again Tracy, sorry chick........... i don't think there is anything that will tell you exactly where someone works, all you can go on is census, but that will only tell you occupation, not exactly where they work ( unless you're lucky and were at work when census was taken, lol) and obviously have to wait in 10 yr gaps !! there are also the business directories, but they don't show the employees either sorry :O(( Jane x

Jane Report 20 May 2006 19:16

Denise, have had another good look for you, but i swear they are not in the country !!!!!! thought it might help looking for a different birthplace , but no. only thing i can try now is wife Alice, have obviously tried searching for her, but it might be better if i knew her age and birthplace too, have tried baby Alice, that didnt work either ! Jx

Hi Jane, many thanks for the kind offer. I am looking for a family in 1871 and/or afterwards: I don't know the parents. Children were Toni, Annie, Hannah Catherine, Harry & Jennie SLEIGHT. Hannah Catherine was born c1866. They were almost certainly in Lincolnshire - possibly Gainsborough. If you find them then I would be most grateful for images - I'll pm my email address if that is OK with you. Kind regards, William

Hi Jane , thanks for the offer. Could you try to find John Guerin on the 1861. He would be aged 13/14 born in Chatham Kent. There is one same name but is 16 and born in Canada. Unless he lied about age and birthplace to get in the navy it is definately not him. Also the name gets spelt wrongly quite often. Sue
