HO 107 434 Book 2 Folio 23 North Street, Bishop's Stortford (poss South St) Susan Bayford, aged 60, Nurse Charles Bayford, aged 30, Labourer Sarah Bayford, aged 20, Female Servant None born in Hertfordshire HO 107 434 Book 2 Folio 26 North Street, Bishop's Stortford (poss South St) Thomas Nottage, aged 75, Dealer, Not born in Hertfordshire These are the only Bayfords and Nottages I can see in Bishop's Stortford. I realise they are not the ones you are looking for but probably worth hanging onto in case you can fit them in to your tree. I will expand my search to Little Hadham etc when I have done a couple of domestic jobs!! Charlotte

charlotte thank you so much I think the Martha aged 3 green street little Hadham is the child I am looking for. Her mother Susan remained unmarried for some years and I believe worked as a servant in Essex. Could you possibly look in Albury for Henry NottageTthe one in Fureux pelham is about the right age but the Hebry I think was her father was born in Albury 1815. Susans parents were Jacob & Elizabeth Bayford but I can't find them on any census. Thank you once again for your kind help

HO 107 443 Book 1 Folio 4 Clapgate, Albury Hy Nottage, aged 30, Ag Lab, born in Hertfordshire At least I think it is Nottage although it looks more like Kottage. Hope this is your one, you now have a choice of three. Further along Clapgate is a Thomas Nottage, aged 39, Ag Lab, born in Hertfordshire who also appears to be living alone. I have been through all the villages in the area and not found Jacob and Elizabeth Bayford, or either of them singly. Charlotte

Hi I am very interested in the reports of Susan and Martha Bayford. I think Martha was my great great grandmother married to a John White at St Michaels Bishop Stortford. I thought maybe her mother and father were never married. Can I be of help? [email protected]
