George was not on the census his wife was listed as head of the household.

Oh I see thanks. Good for her running the business! Am confused now though because no sign of daughter Jessie in 1871/1881. She lived beyond the 1940s because my cousin remembers her!!

Dorothy , I can not find Simon mcgregor in 1881 could it be he was born after 1881 ?

Dorothy , there are 4 Simon chisholm born 1870-81 in Dunfermline or Inverness and 19 Jessie mcgregor in 1880-1 alone none that are married to each other so very hard to know who without a place to search. margaret in looking for anyone with the suname of vernon or coats in glasgow camlachie 1881. ive got them in 1891 in camlachie and some of the family in england 1881 but some are missing and i think the rest are still in scotland they are all travelling showpeople.

Hi Margaret I hope you will be able to help locate the parents of Elizabeth McBride who was born in Hebburn in 1884. Her father was Peter McBride, aged about 35 in 1881 and occupation Boiler Maker. Her mother, Mary McBride nee Keenan born Glasgow would be aged 28 in 1881. I don't know if they were married before or after 1881. Possibly living in Glasgow or Fifeshire. Would appreciate anything you can find as I only have them in the 1901 census. Carol
