Maureen

Maureen Report 26 Feb 2006 12:34

Hi Lorraine, Would you mind looking up on the 1871 census for me. I'm looking for my great grandfather Henry Hayes who was born around 1851. On the 1881 census it states he was born in Wigan Lancaster, but on the 1891/1901 it states Coxhoe Durham. He married in 1874 at the parish church in coxhoe, i'm trying to find out if he moved there from Wigan or if he was born somewhere in Durham. On his marriage certificate it states his father as James Owen farmer so i'm keen to know if he was born out of wedlock. I'm also trying to find his birth certificate to find out who his mother was. Many thanks Maureen

Hi Loraine, Ive just found some info on the 1881 census which links 3 different familys of Whites as neighbours and I'm convinced there's a connection to be made. Could you help me by searching the earlier census' for the brothers: Henry H (Hewlett?) White b1826, Taunton, Somerset John T (Thomas?) White b1928, St Lukes, Middlesex. There's a chance though only a guess the parents may be called William and Mary. Any pre 1871 census info on Henry would be great, and any 1871 census info on John would help, but its the 1841 info that should have details of the rest of the family if it survives. Please could you message me with anything you can find. Many Thanks, Simon.

Alan

Alan Report 27 Feb 2006 23:06

I would be most grateful if you could look up in either the Cheshire or Staffordshire 1841 censuses: - James Speed - born c1819, in Tilston(e), Cheshire, shown as living in Bradley, Staffs in the 1851 census with wife Mary Speed born c1825 Bradley, Staffs. I am hoping he will have not married Mary in 1841, but will be living with his parents and siblings in Cheshire which will give me another generation back! Thanks very much in advance :-)) Alan Speed.
