Hi, Jane. I think my last email went a bit haywire, as it hasn't appeared in the messages list. So here goes once more! Please could you do lookups for me on the 1871, 1881 and 1891 censuses for Nelmes/Nelms in Monmouthshire and Glamorgan. Would be most grateful. Lesley.

Jane, Could you have a go at finding this family in 1861 & 1871 only please. William SANDY (tailor) Eliza SANDY (wife) (nee SAMMS) George William SANDY (son - born 1859/60) They SHOULD be in Marylebone, Middx/London. Eliza & William were married in 1858 in the Parish Church of St Marylebone. Son, George William also becomes a tailor by 1881 - living in Stalham Street, London. It's the time in between that's foxing me. Thanks, Jane

Paul, right , 2nd lot.............. Marriages Dec 1902 ----------------------------- Collins Grace Gateshead 10a 1377 Ridley Joseph Clulow Gateshead 10a 1377 could this be a child of theirs?? Births Jun 1906 ------------------------ Ridley Joseph Clulow Gateshead 10a 1015 again with 1901, too many to chose from at the minute, as they're not likely to be together . so could really do with parents names, or exact ages / places.

Jane Report 11 Jan 2006 17:17

Hi Paul right, step 1.............. Marriages Sep 1905 ----------------------------- Atkins Joseph Vincent Burton 6b 709 WILLINGHAM Rose Burton 6b 709 but can't find any record of them in 1901, or births............have tried many variations of spellings of surnames. but if they were born in ireland & Germany, their birth record wouldn't be on FreeBMD, so my next suggestion is to send for the certificate to get fathers names. will be back with your other 2 soon.................. Hi Please please please help me as I have hit several brick walls, and with me and only my sister left we have to rely on our memories most of my family like aunts, uncles and grandparents were dead by the time I came into the world , so now I am just going by memor based on what my parents told me when I was a kid. I have 2 sets of grandparents I am trying to trace one set were Joseph Atkins ( originally from Ireland) and his Wife Rose nee Willingham ( I think they were originally from Germany ), I do not know when either was born, I do know that rose had a brother called Walter and a sister called Cisse, again with no dates. I know that when I was born my Rose was in Burton On trent, where my mother was brought up. So i am not too sure if this is the area they lived and met each other. My other grandparents would be Joseph Ridley and his wife Grace, again i have no dates and no other relatives that I know of, sorry for this, but I do know that nearly all my dads family were from Newcastle upon tyne, so any information would be appreciative as I am just stuck and have been like this for a year now ! Regards Paul

Hi Jane, I have ` `brickwall` which I have been trying to knock down for years. Charles Joseph Sansom born ? London c1815/1818 a Watchmaker/Clockmaker by trade. Found living in Hackney in 1841 census with 1st wife Eliza. Found living in Clerkenwell in 1861 census with 2nd wife Sophia and family. Had died before 1871 census. Where did that man go? I really need to find out where was he born? Needle in a haystack really but any information would be appreciated. Many Thanks Marianne.
