Dear Mary
I am finding it impossible to find information on my grandmother's family especially my grandmothers father.
My grandmother and her sister were illigetimate and I believe while living in Scotland went by the surname Murchie (their mother's) but once they immigrate to Australia they changed their surname to McFadzean (their fathers).
I am interested in information on their father.
James McFadzean or McFadzen worked as a Railway (next word is unreadable on daughters birth certificate) in 1892, living at Kingcass, Prestwick. He died sometime prior to 1918 possibly even as early as 1901 as he isn't on the 1901 census with the family.
Any information on James would be enormously appreciated.
Deepest thanks,
Jane

Hi Steve I could not find Susan Kelly on 1861 census.Have you considered that she may have remarried? I have found a Susan Woodmason on 1861 living in Stoke Damerel (where Susan Kelly was resident in 1851) married to a John Woodmason. In 1851 John was married to Mary, not Susan. I have saved the image for John in 51 and for John/Susan in 61 if you would like to see them PM your email addy. I think the possibility of a second marriage is worth looking at. Regards Mary
