Hi Mary, I,m looking for info on a Robert and Henrietta Alder from Oxford, We believed that they lived in the Hinksey area of Oxford. They had a son and a daughter around 1920's. Sorry but this is all we have to go by. Any help would be grateful. Thanks Tina

Hi Tina Not sure that I can be of much help as my census records (and indeed all census records available)stop at 1901. You may do better to get on touch with the Oxfordshire Family History Society who may be able to give you some info. I know that there was a family of Alders in Oxford who were butchers and I believe Grocers but this was in the 1950s and 60s. I quick look at the 1901 census shows many Alders in and around Oxford, but without dates etc very difficult to be sure that you have the correct family. Sorry Regards and good luck Mary

Hello Mary, a while ago someone did a 1851 census look up for me for Joseph Daniels b abt 1817 Shoreditch and his wife Phoebe Daniels b abt 1819 Chelsea and their children, also there was a Anne Scott living with them described as dependent on family, I've seen the image and the last name on the image shows a Thomas Scott living next door to the Daniels. Would you be able to give me the details of Thomas Scott's family as only his name is on the image i saw, Would appreciate details if you could let me have them. Regards Michael

Hi Norm OK this is what I have for you. On looking for Arthur Baldwin I found that he was in fact boarding with the Hill family in Bloxwich(i stupdly did not at the time connect that he was the one that Miss Hill married. He is aged 20 a Coal miner driver born in Faversham,Kent. Assuming that he changed his name after his teens I found this possibility, although place of birth is not right ,nor the age it could be the right person, but I could not find anyone else who remotely fitted known facts. 1881 William Harris Head 34 Parish church verger b Staplehurst,Kent Fanny Harris Wife 36 b Lenham,Kent Arthur Lambert Nephew 3 b Aylesford,Kent living at 45 High Street,Aylesford,Kent 1891 1 Anchor Cottage,Aylesford William Harris Head 44 Church Sexton b Staplehurst Fanny Harris Wife 48 b Hollingbourne,Kent Arthur Lambert Adopted 13 b Aylesford In view of the fact that he changed his name to Baldwin you will need to find his birth registration,to try to find his parentage.I think it highly likely that his mother was not married when he was born. I also found two of the Hill brothers in 1901 in Bloxwich : 87 Statherton Lane,Bloxwich Joseph Hill Head 26 Locksmith b Bloxwich Martha M Hill Wife 23 Tailoress b Leamore Staffs Samuel J Hill Son 1mth b Leamore Back of 36 Park Road, Bloxwich Samuel Hill Head 23 Coal miner loader b Bloxwich Elizabeth Hill Wife 21 b Cheslyn Hay,Staffs Samuel O Hill Son 11 days b Bloxwich It look as if the occupations were incorrect on 1891for these two,and I could not find David Hill on 1901. Who the Grandsons belong to is a mystery. Will have to do more digging. The Singleton rellies are finding it a little cold as the daytime temp is only about 7C!!!!after the frost has thawed.Wish we had come to you Regards Mary

Hi Mary Thank you for the latest info. You know I wish they had been a little more imaginative with the forenames in those days, it makes following the tree a little confusing when you have 4 Johns 5 Williams 5 Elizabeths 4 Annies etc etc etc. particularly when Mother and Father named there first born boy and girl after themselves. Yippee.....so far I am the only Norm Regards....Yippee (sorry Norm)

Mary I was just checking some family papers and it appears Arthur Oliver Lamberts' (formerly Baldwin) father was Charles Baldwin. I know nothing else about him other than he was deceased when Arthur married Dora Hill in 1900. I have tried finding more about him on the web through my limited resources both in Staffordshire and now Kent but cannot find anything in Births Marriages or Deaths. As I say 'limited resources' By the way would you like to try and sort out a proverbial 'Skeleton in the cupboard' ???? Regards Norm

Hi Helen I saw your PM but I am sure that I can be of any help with this one. I do not have any Parish register records available on line that go this far back. Your best bet is SKS who has Parish registers for the Suffolk area of Norton or a local Family History Society that has access to Parish records. Sorry Mary

Hi Gillian sorry I have not been able to find a Richard Parry bc1811 in Shropshire living in Edgbaston on 51/61/71. Do you have any other family members with him or an occupation? It is very difficult to find people from the 1841 census due to lack of relationship info, inaccuray of age and lack of birthplace. Any snippet could be useful, have you got him on81 census? Regards Mary
